You can’t focus on a goal that you haven’t set yet or that doesn’t motivate you, so that’s the first step. What are you setting your goal for? Yourself? Your business? A new product or service?

In business, ROI (return on investment) is critical. If you run a business without good ROI, you won’t be in business very long.
If you run your life without good ROI, you are effectively running on empty. And I’m not talking about your bank account.
I was talking with a friend recently about some challenges in my life and she said, “You are doing a great job of handling all this. What you need to remember to do is take some time for yourself - do things and go places that will replenish you.”
Pretty smart woman. She nailed what I’d been missing.
So I did what she recommended. The first thing I did, after we parted, was to drive to Tower Hill Botanic Garden in Boylston MA. I’ve been there many times and it never fails to center me. Predictably, I left feeling replenished and more balanced in my outlook.
But it got me thinking. I deliberately focused on the other activities and places that work like Tower Hill for me and made a list. Some activities or places I naturally gravitate towards, others have to be planned in to my schedule.
When I’m especially stressed or overwhelmed, I tend not to do those things or go those places because I “don’t have time.” Backwards logic.
Those are the times when we should make an extra effort to do the things and go the places that de-stress and center us.
What is your Tower Hill? Where do you go or what do you do that fills your tank so you’re not running on empty? I’d love to hear from you about how you get back to center. Just reply to this email or go here to share what works for you.
Living in a state of gratitude is the easiest way to push fear from your mind and boldly move forward. Try it.
