Plan Your January Marketing Now

The holidays are a wonderful time, filled with cheer and joy. They’re also a busy time. You’ve got office parties, family gatherings, shopping and a million and one other things to fill your schedule. If you’re not trimming the tree, you’re looking through online sales trying to complete your Christmas shopping without rupturing your bank account.

It’s no surprise that with so much going on you might be tempted to put off planning for next year’s marketing until things get back to normal. Don’t fall into that trap. The best time to make a plan is before you actually need that plan. The sooner you get started, the more time you have to think it through and to make adjustments.

With that in mind, here are a few suggestions to help you get off to a fast start in January:

Rope ‘em in with a post-holiday roundup. The end of the year is a busy time, and not everyone has the time to indulge in the holidays as much as they would like. For example, they may have been traveling or had other business that kept them out of the loop. Save a little holiday cheer for these late comers with some great promotions.

Brighten the holiday blues. The first few weeks after the holidays can be a bit of a downer. The Christmas lights are gone and the parties are done, but winter isn’t going anywhere. Keep the good times going just a little bit longer with some bright and cheerful post-holiday deals.

Take advantage of the season. Yes, in many parts of the country January is white and cold and blah! Love it or hate it, you can’t change the weather, so face it with a smile and more importantly: use it in your marketing. January is the perfect time for weather-related content marketing such as how to stay warm, how to keep your car going in freezing temperatures or whether to use salt or sand on those annoying icy patches near your front door.

Use the calendar. The big holidays are over, of course, but January does have a few to call its own. There’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, observed on the third Monday of the month. Many communities commemorate the civil rights leader by participating in a day of service to create a positive impact on the world. In addition, January is also National Blood Donor Month, making it a great time to get involved in your community.

As you can see, there are plenty of things to get excited about for your January marketing, so don’t wait until the New Years’ confetti is cleaned up and the lights are out to begin planning for a great 2019.
