Fiverr: An Inexpensive Way to Get Your Creative Content off the Ground

If you’re trying to get your online presence established for your business, you may have come across the name ‘Fiverr.’

The site is one of a new breed of marketplaces that are changing the way things are done online. Similar to other more well-known sites like E-bay and Etsy, Fiverr is an online marketplace, where sellers offer their products and services to potential clients. The site gets its name from the practice of offering a service or “Gig” for an introductory cost of just $5. The reach is global, and the Gigs include copywriting and editing, logo design, video and animation and more. Whatever your needs, the site says, there is likely someone registered with Fiverr who has the skills to do it.

Only registered users may buy and sell services, but signup is free. After registering your new account, you’ll receive a confirmation email with an activation link. After that, you can go to the marketplace and begin searching for the services you need.

With a large pool of sellers available, the marketplace wouldn’t be of much use without a search feature, and Fiverr has it. Simply type in the service you’re looking for at the top, and began browsing. You can filter your search by category, delivery time, language, online status and more. Some categories may have additional filters, so if you’re looking for graphic designers, you can narrow them down by type, style and the file format they prefer to work in.

Once you find a seller, you can read over what services they have to offer. If you’re interested, simply click on the ‘Order Now’ link. There’s also a ‘Contact Me’ link if you have additional questions.

While you may not want to simply turn over your creative design to someone you don’t know, here are some instances where Fiverr can help you:

  • Infographics.  These graphics are everywhere on the Internet, and they are a great way to communicate a lot of information efficiently and cleanly. They are easy to produce for those with the know-how and can really spruce up a blog post.
  • Animation.  Cartoons might seem a little frivolous, but if you are relying on creative content to get the word out about your business, a good cartoon or animation can provide a memorable way of standing out in a crowd.
  • Voice-overs.  Voicing an introduction may be just the thing to get your site noticed. If you don’t have the voice for it, don’t worry. There are people who do, and they can be found on Fiverr.

As with any marketplace, you need to be careful to make sure what you’re getting. Check the seller’s reputation and reviews before making any commitments. In addition, while it’s true that Gigs start at 5 dollars, if you want more extensive services, you’ll have to purchase more Gigs. A high quality piece of digital art, for example, may cost you multiple Gigs at five dollars a Gig.

Fiverr may not be the answer to all your creative problems, but properly used it can be a great and inexpensive resource to help you enhance your marketing and business image.
