Taking Advantage of the Holidays

The holidays are approaching and although it can be difficult for entrepreneurs to unplug and unwind, it’s vital for your health and the success of your business. So, plan out your vacations now and then reap the benefits of some time off:

De-Stress.

Forty-three percent of adults suffer from adverse health effects caused by stress, such as headaches, high blood pressure, heart problems, diabetes, skin conditions, asthma, depression and anxiety; and 75 to 90 percent of all doctor’s office visits are due to stress-related complaints. Therefore, taking a vacation to de-stress is imperative to your health and the long term success of your business.

So, log out of your email, social media and Teamwork accounts; sleep in, spend time with the people you love, and participate in activities that you enjoy. You may not realize how stressed you were, and how much you needed a vacation, until you’re on one.

Find Inspiration.

It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day when you’re working in your business. So stepping away may provide you with an opportunity to gain some new perspective. You may even come up with a new product, campaign or process!

Increase Productivity.

When you’re exhausted and stressed, productivity and efficiency decrease. Time away from your business should allow you to recharge and return to work with renewed focus.

Learn a new skill.

The perfect time to learn something new is when you are away from work and daily stressors. Dive into that book you’ve been dying to read or watch a documentary. It’s also a great time to take an online course and further develop skills that will help you and your business succeed.

Although it may feel like your business will fall apart without you there, stepping away for a much-needed break is actually an investment in yourself and your business. Just remember to notify your clients in advance and set up an emergency plan before you leave. Happy Holidays!
