Tracking your content
How do you communicate with your customers and prospects throughout the year?
Do you blog, write an e-newsletter, post on social media, send mail, create audio/video, Facebook Live, create infographics, e-books or white papers, do webinars, or anything else?
Whatever and wherever you create content is only part of the picture. Like any other part of your business, the content you deliver should be congruent and on target with your business goals.
One technique to ensure that you on track with your content plan is to use an editorial calendar. You can use it to simply track dates, platform, and topic, or you can drill deeper and track variables such as author and headline.
The simplest tool to use is a spreadsheet. You can create a multi-tabbed spreadsheet using a separate tab for each platform or campaign e.g. Facebook, Infusionsoft prospect nurture, blog, etc.
We use the spreadsheet model for some of our content. For our Insights e-newsletter, we use Asana which also manages topic owners, deadlines, and reminders.
